Adeline Gloria Cihla

Adeline was welcomed by our savior to eternal rest on August 5, 2012.  She was born in Lonsdale, Minnesota, the second child of George and Katherine (Havel) Cihla on April 15, 1951.  She graduated from Montgomery High School in 1970.  She worked as a Psych Tech at Faribault State Hospital caring for developmentally disabled adults.

Adeline became a transplanted Coloradoan in 1978.  She graduated from the OJC Nursing Program in 1981 with an Associates Degree in nursing.  She was a dedicated OB/Gyn and a Medical Surgical nurse at AVRMC for the over 30 years.  Many of the babies she helped deliver are now adults with children of their own.

She is survived by brothers, George of Cheraw, Leonard of Faribault, MN, Ray (Vikki) of Burnsville, MN and sister, Gladys (Jim) Schmelzer of La Junta; nephew, Jason; nieces, Tracy Schmelzer of Norfolk, VA and Cherie (Ernest) Chigama of Painted Post, NY; great-nephew, Bryden Schmelzer and her beloved aunt (second mother) Tillie Lawrence of Minnesota and numerous cousins.

She will be missed by all her friends and co-workers.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to La Junta Associated Charities or the Arkansas Valley Pregnancy Center direct or through the funeral home.

Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

 A viewing is scheduled prior to cremation for Thursday, Aug. 9, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Peacock Memorial Chapel.  A celebration of her life will be held in the near future in La Junta. Cremation will be done per her previous request.
