Alfred "Faf" Salazar, Jr.

Alfred “Faf” Salazar, Jr., 62, of La Junta, passed away November 9, 2009, in Pueblo.

Recitation of the Rosary will be Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at 9:30 a.m. and the Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. with both services at Our Lady Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with Father Charles Sena officiating. Interment will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery with honors by the American Legion, Rocky Ford Post 8.

Alfred was born on November 8, 1947, in La Junta to Alfred & Bertha (Urioste) Salazar, Sr. He retired from Fort Lyon Veterans Administration Medical Center after many years as an Occupational Therapist. He married Evelyn Lopez in La Junta in 1974; she preceded him in death on March 26, 2002.

Alfred enjoyed the outdoors, wood crafting, fishing, scenic drives and refereeing the local youth sports.  His greatest love of all was his family, especially his grandkids.  He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Alfred is survived by his children, Tonya (Eric Armendariz) Salazar of La Junta, Dominick Salazar of La Junta, James (Andrea) Salazar of Pueblo and Yvette (Phil) Chavez of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; grandchildren, Celestina, Calei, Christian, Raymond, Robert, Gabriella and Ryan; brothers and sisters, Anthony (Betty) Salazar of La Junta, Alice Martinez of La Junta, Patricia (Eugene) Eddy of La Junta, Danny (Janet) Salazar of La Junta, Joann Madrid of Colorado Springs, Oclires (Rick) Lovato of Swink, Loretta Sandoval of La Junta, Eloy (June) Salazar of Swink, and Diane Salazar of Swink, Thomas (Vicki) Salazar of Marysville, WA, Brian (AnnMarie) Salazar of Albuquerque, NM, and Jimmy Salazar of Denver; special nieces Lisa & Paula and all of the Lopez family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Evelyn, and his grandson Niklas Louis Chavez.
