Angelina Vigil

December 25, 1933 — May 18, 2019

Angelina Vigil, 85, departed this life on May 18, 2019 at her La Junta home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 25, 1933 in Las Vegas, New Mexico (Gallina Canon) to Candido Ortega and Florencia (Vigil) Ortega.

She finished high school in Las Vegas, NM and then worked within the home as a wife and mother of a military family, traveling throughout the United States and abroad. After settling down in Colorado Angelina met and married Angelo Vigil in 1979. She worked at Hewlett Packard for 20 years and then Wal-Mart of La Junta for another 19 years. As a door greater Angelina did not meet a stranger and made many friends both with co-workers and customers. She continued to be a dedicated mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother, attending many sporting events and birthdays and special occasions. She truly was a proud mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her children, Erma Shugars of La Junta; Henry (Christine) Durga of Rocky Ford; Helen Purdon (Tino Gonzales) of Colorado Springs; Christopher (Sandra) Durga of La Junta; Jeff (Naomi) Durga of Ft. Collins; Gary (Vanessa) Durga of Colorado Springs; 21 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and nine great, great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Candido and Florencia Ortega; husband, Angelo Vigil; children, Ralph Durga, Earl Durga, Jr. and Patricia Durga; granddaughter, Isabel Triana; siblings, Erma Vialpando, Mary Montano, Rose Lujan, Robert Ortega, Laurence Ortega, Blaus Ortega, Ernest Ortega, Lorenzo Ortega and Luis Ortega.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Las Vegas, New Mexico.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made in Angelina's name to the Arkansas Valley Hospice, PO Box 408, La Junta, Colorado direct or through the funeral home.
