Antonio R. Martinez

Antonio R. Martinez., 70, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2011 at his La Junta home.  He was born on January 6, 1941, in La Junta, Colorado to Benny & Merlinda (Trujillo) Martinez.  He married Joyce M. Denny on July 28, 1976 in La Junta, Colorado. 

Antonio was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

Antonio is survived by his wife Joyce of the La Junta home; children, Tony (Alice) Martinez of Sedalia, MO, Danny (Arlene) Martinez of Pueblo, CO, Bobby (Terry) Martinez of Milwaukee, WI, Jessie (Sam) Baca of La Junta, Bill Porter of Pueblo, CO & Celina (Paul) Tafoya of La Junta; sister, Sally Ruiz of Rocky Ford; brothers, Adam Martinez of Greeley, CO; Pete (Patricia) Martinez of Loveland, CO; Louie (Una) Martinez of Denver; brother-in-laws, Nick Cordova and Lupe Ruiz both of Rocky Ford; sisters-in-law, Viola Haddock of Penrose, CO; Janet Troiber of Wisconsin; brothers-in-law, Marvin, Jeff, Nelson Denny all of Wisconsin; 15 grandchildren, Monica, Thomas, Cathy, Raymond, Tony, Alicia, Andrew, Bobby, Jr., Amanda, Jessica, Angel, Shawn, Latasha, Lanae, and Jacob; 17 great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Josie Cordova, Amerine Ruiz, Helen Montoya, Della Marquez and Reyna Cordova; brother, Joe Martinez.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Pastor Steve Hicks of the Cheraw Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, May 26, 2011 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Peacock Memorial Chapel. Graveside services will be Friday, May 27th at 3 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery.
