Barbara Chandler Miller

Barbara Chandler Miller , 89, of La Junta, passed away Dec. 1, 2009 in Denver. Memorial service will be Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church with Father Bernhard Ebert officiating.

Barbara was born and raised in Fort Collins, CO, on Nov. 18, 1920 to Lowell and Doris Chandler. In her younger years she was very active in sports; participating in tennis, golf, and she taught swimming lessons. She married Jay Miller, December 4, 1939 and the couple moved to La Junta on December 7, 1941.

Barbara was a long-time active member and supporter of the La Junta community; member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church and Altar Guild, 50 year member of PEO Chapter DQ, Gray Lady volunteer for A.V.R.M.C., Meals on Wheels volunteer, charter member of Picketwire Players Patrons Assoc., Cancer Society volunteer, American Heart Association volunteer, and the Womens Golf Association.

She is survived by her husband Jay Miller of La Junta; daughter, Patti Ingels of Fort Collins; sons, Kent (Jefferie) Miller of Colorado Springs and Tom (Vicki) Miller of Castle Rock; grandchildren, Scott (Carie) Brumit, Joel (Amy) Miller, Jill (Daniel) Staley, Derek Miller, Randi and Kelli Miller; great grandchildren, Tiffany, Amanda, and Jennifer Brumit and Evi Staley. Preceded in death by her parents Lowell and Doris Chandler and sister Patricia Markley.

Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
