Barbara E. Lance

Barbara E. Lance, 93, of La Junta, passed away November 23, 2009, in La Junta. Funeral services will be Monday, November 30, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene with Reverend Brian Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 29, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.

Barbara was born on November 7, 1916, in Gillett, Arkansas to Roscoe Marion & Margaret Mae (Powell) Hamilton. She married David E. Lance on January 16, 1937 in Raton, New Mexico; he preceded her in death on April 7, 1992.

She was a Brownie & Girl Scout leader and was a Sunday School teacher for over 57 years at the First Church of the Nazarene. Her most important role in life was to be a model mother, citizen and friend.

Barbara is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Dean) Jones of La Junta; Diane (Jim) La Fever of Colorado Springs; Gerry (Buford) Neugebauer of Cheraw; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters & brother.
