Bethalee Lay

Bethalee Lay, 89, of La Junta passed away on Monday, March 28, 2011 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center. She was born on January 24, 1922 in Anthony, Kansas to Joel N. & Zula Ruth (Tincher) Adkisson. She married Wallace C. Lay on December 21, 1940 in Deerfield, Kansas; he preceded her in death on August 21, 1981.
Bethalee worked 19 years as the Dorm Director at OJC. She enjoyed camping, fishing and crocheting. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Joe (Kathy) Lay of La Junta; granddaughter, Thebe Lay of La Junta; grandsons, C.J. (Nikki) Lay of Parker, CO; Jason (Tessa) Smith of Garden City, KS; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, James, Cole, Madison, and Dakota.
Bethalee is preceded in death by her parents, Joel N. & Zula R. Adkisson; husband, Wallace C. Lay; son, Wallace V. Lay; two sisters & three brothers.
Graveside services will be held Friday, April 1, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery with Reverend Ron Skorick of the First Christian Church officiating.
Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
