Betty June Harris

Betty Harris, 86, passed away on December 10, 2018 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center. She was born on June 4, 1932 in La Junta to Herbert & Clara (Tripp) Gwyn. She married Edward C. Harris on February 6, 1952 in La Junta; he preceded her in death on September 27, 2005.

Betty was a daycare teacher for over 20 years where she enjoyed caring for all the children. She loved spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed cooking for them and others as well. She enjoyed going fishing and motorhome camping. She was very involved in the cub scouts and was also a member of the Catholic Daughters.

She is survived by her sons, Eddie Harris, Jr. of La Junta and Patrick (Melody) Harris of Lamar; grandchildren, Josh (Erin) Harris of La Junta; Nick Harris of Colorado; Michelle (Chase Collier) Harris of Lamar; Cody Harris of Pueblo; Caleb Harris of Lamar and Dalton Harris of Lamar; great-grandchildren, Eric, Mitch, Justin, Grant, Katy, Carter, Arianna, Connor and Kayson; her brother, Don (Jerry) Gwyn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Archie, Milo, John, Marion and Herbert Gwyn, Jr.; sisters, Rose Gwyn and Margaret Killingsworth.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Pastor Steve Hicks of the Cheraw Baptist Chapel officiating. Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in La Junta. Visitation will be prior to services from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
