Betty L. Van Buskirk, 80, of La Junta passed away on Friday, January 15, 2010 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center. At her request cremation has taken place and no services at this time.
Betty was born on September 4, 1929 in Pierceville, Kansas to John F. & Minnie M. (Bates) Husband. She married Joseph M. Van Buskirk, he preceded her in death on July 17, 1969.
She was a sales clerk at Montgomery Wards; Kelloff’s and also worked for Leo Kipper. She was the Cafeteria manager at East High School in Pueblo. Betty loved crocheting, reading, and she was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church.
Betty is survived by her son, David (Lorine) Van Buskirk of Pueblo; sisters, Claudette (Vern) Beavers of Pierceville, Kansas; Melvena (Wayne) Rieth of Pierceville, Kansas; Thelma Wells of Goddard, Kansas; brother, Billy Husband of Texas; three grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Eldon and Jim; sisters, Mary and Mildred Pearl.
Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers those wishing to do so may make memorial donations to charity or church of choice direct or through the funeral home.
