Bonnie L. Carlile

August 1, 1934 — September 29, 2021

On the morning September 29th, 2021, Bonnie L. Carlile left this earthly realm to her home in heaven. She was 87 years old, and was a beloved member of her community.

Bonnie was a hard worker – she began working at Hollar Seed Company in Rocky Ford, CO while in high school, and continued to work doing things such as being a traveling salesperson for Encyclopedia Britannica, and being a bookkeeper at both Santa Fe Railroad and Swink School. She was a loving mother of three; Steve Carlile of Rocky Ford, CO, Gary Carlile of Colorado Springs, CO, and Kathy (Butch) Carlile Werner, of Goodland, KS, and grandmother of five; Jonathan (Nadine) Carlile, David (Holly) Carlile, Daniel Carlile, and Leilani Mullins, all of Colorado Springs, CO, and Zachary Werner, in school at Kearny, NE, a great-grandmother of two, Wyatt and Lydia Carlile; as well as adoptive mother of Anu Kaarpi, beloved exchange student from Finland.

Bonnie was a long-time resident of Swink, CO, right across the street from the school, and served as another grandmother to many students and friends. She was an active member of the church, most recently Cornerstone Church of Rocky Ford, participated in every activity when she lived at Casa Del Sol, and was loved by everyone at Cottonwood Ridge.

Bonnie will reunite in heaven with her husband, Virgil Carlile, her parents, and her 10 siblings, of which she was the youngest, as well as many friends and family.

A funeral service will be Monday, October 4, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at the Cornerstone Country Church in Rocky Ford with Pastor J.B. Ballard officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, October 3, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel in La Junta. Interment will follow the funeral service at Fairview Cemetery in La Junta.
