Bonnie M. Hogue-Van Pelt, 82, of Amarillo, Texas and formerly of La Junta, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2012. She was born on December 13, 1929 to Bonnie Wade & Amy Belle Hogue in Chandler, Oklahoma. She married Eldred Leon Van Pelt on June 30, 1946 in Las Animas, Colorado, and was married 54years.
Together they ministered 42 years in the Church of the Nazarene. He would pastor, and she would play piano and help where needed. They served their Lord in Nazarene churches in Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, as well as Canada. She was a homemaker who would always put family first. Along with being a grand minister’s wife, she had tremendous compassion and would counsel people in their congregations. Bonnie was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed by her family, but they know she is now celebrating in Heaven and in the presence of our Lord Jesus.
She is survived by her sons, Leon (Jan) Van Pelt of Lubbock, TX; Philip (Denece) Van Pelt of Broken Arrow, OK; Kevin (Cindy) Van Pelt of Friendsville, TN; grandchildren, Katrina Zimmerman, Brent, Josh, Jordan, Jenai Johnson, Gregory & Kyle; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Irene Bentley of Albuquerque, NM; Lorene Kimball of Littleton, CO; brother, Melvin Hogue of Amarillo, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Vera Anderson; brothers, Leroy & Willis Hogue; and her grandson, Brandon.

Funeral service will be Saturday, August 25, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Pastor Andy Albright of the First Church of the Nazarene officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, August 25th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. also at Peacock Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Bent County Cemetery in Las Animas.
