Carol Combes

February 26, 1938 — June 25, 2021

Carol Combes, 83, passed away on June 25 at the Joni Fair Hospice House in Pueblo with her family by her side after a brief illness. She was born February 26, 1938 to Herbert and Winifred (Sowers) Blakely in Springer, New Mexico. She married the love of her life, Mars Combes May 24, 1959 in Clayton, New Mexico; he preceded her in death on March 16, 2018.

To this union were born two children, Melissa Fassiotto and Lucinda Combes. They lived in Boise City, OK until moving to Cuchara, CO in the fall of 1972. Mars and Carol owned and operated several successful businesses including Spanish Peaks Construction, Handcrafted Things, Lee's Cable TV, Valley Hardware (along with Mars' sister Lottie and her husband Louie), and The Bear's Den. They retired and bought a ranch in Kim, CO and very rarely missed any of their grandson's activities. Carol loved working, meeting new people, playing cards, and spending quality time with her family. Her biggest joy was spending time with her three grandsons; Cory, Kelby, and Casey. She was fortunate to be able to spend time with her great granddaughters; Lena and Presley. She was able to see pictures of her newest great granddaughter Adeline. Her family was her world. Carol will be extremely missed by her loving family and friends.

Carol is survived by her two children, Melissa (Dave) Fassiotto of Cuchara and Cindy Combes of Pueblo; grandchildren, Cory (Aubrey) Fassiotto, Kelby Fassiotto, and Casey (Sarah) Fassiotto; great-granddaughters, Lena and Adeline Fassiotto, and Presley Fassiotto, as well as many other beloved members of her family. She was preceded into death by her beloved husband of 59 years and her brother Herbert Blakely.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the LaVeta Cemetery. All friends and family are welcome to attend.
