Cathy D. Mccormick

Cathy D. McCormick, 60, of La Junta, passed away on October 28, 2020 at Sangre de Cristo Joni Fair Hospice House in Pueblo, CO. She was born Cathleen Diann Fowler on June 19, 1960 in Rochester, PA to Erna Alleene White (Hamilton) and Charles Eugene Fowler. She was later adopted by her stepfather James Clark Murphy and was known as Cathy Murphy until her marriage to William Paul McCormick. She maintained her married name after their divorce in 1985.

Cathy graduated from Otero Junior College in 1993 as a Registered Nurse. She spent much of her career at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center – Extended Care Facility and Nursing Home. Cathy loved her work and made many friends among both her patients and co-workers alike. She loved taking road trips and spending time with her family and friends. Cathy had a big heart and open arms for any animals in need and she provided them with so much love.

Cathy is survived by her daughter, Vikki Montgomery of Canon City, and grandchildren, Ivy Hart of Canon City and Lucas Hart of La Junta; daughter, Joy Lavoie (McCormick) and her husband Jon of Pittsburg, KS; daughter, Melody McCormick of La Junta; sister, Tanya White and her two children, Ruby and Noah of Canon City; step-brother, Bernard Murphy of Pueblo. She is also survived by many friends including Lynn Smith of Nevada and Denise Dorland of Washington. Lastly, Cathy is survived by her fur-babies Butch, Munchkin, Deuce, LB, Pippi, Tinka, and Sneaky.

Cathy was preceded in death by her father, Charles Eugene Fowler in 1997; mother, Erna Alleene White in 1998; brother, C. David Murphy in 2015; brother, Thomas Leroy Fowler in 1957; former husband, William Paul McCormick in 2016; and fur-babies, Kitty, Patrice, Willow, Buddy, Oscar, and Taz.

A memorial service for Cathy will be held at a later date.
