Cecilia A. Tafoya

Cecilia A. Tafoya, 82, of La Junta, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center. She was born to Juan & Matilde (Sandoval) Aragon in San Isidro, New Mexico on November 22, 1929. She married Rupert Tafoya on July 11, 1947.

    She worked as a cook at Frances’s Café for over 20 years. She enjoyed crocheting, coin collecting, cooking and she enjoyed going to Mass every day. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

   She is survived by her daughters, Tillie (John) Bustos of Monrovia, CA; Isabel (Bob) Apodaca of La Junta; Margaret (Willie) Salazar of Raton, New Mexico; daughter-in-law, Mary Dolores Tafoya of Pueblo, CO; brother, Gregorio Aragon of La Junta; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren.

    Cecilia was preceded in death by her parents, Juan & Matilde Aragon; Husband, Rupert Tafoya on September 21, 2010; son, Charlie Tafoya; grandson, Michael Salazar; sister, Merced Gomez, Grace Trujillo, and Annie Pulido.

    Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Thursday, January 19, 2012, at 9:30 a.m. and Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. at our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with Father Alphonsus Ihuoma officiating.  Interment will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 18th, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.
