Charles Noel Barney

Charles Noel Barney, 100, of La Junta passed away on Monday, August 17, 2009 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center.  A private memorial service was held Friday, August 21, 2009, at the Peacock Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ron Skorick of the First Christian Church officiating.
    Charles was born on April 22, 1909 in Manzanola, Colorado to John & Anna (Brockman) Barney. 
    He was a manager of Western Canning for many years and retired there from. He was a 75 year member of the A.F. & A.M. (Masonic Lodge) and served as Master of the Manzanola Lodge in 1934. He was a WWII army veteran serving in Africa & Italy.
    He is survived by his son, John Barney of California; niece, Sallie Anna Joachim of Texas; nephew, William Barney of Wyoming; numerous grandnieces and nephews, and long-time companion Wanda Smith of La Junta.
    Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel of 60 years.
    Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
