Clarence "Jake" Johannes

July 2, 1933 — May 30, 2011

Clarence “Jake” Johannes, 77, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2011 at Sangre de Cristo Hospice in Pueblo.  He was born on July 2, 1933, in La Junta, Colorado to Jacob & Amelia (Busch) Johannes.  He married Nora Ann Langston in 1975 in La Junta, she preceded him in death on February 20, 2006. 

Jake attended La Junta schools, graduating with the Class of 1952. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1975 after 20 years of service.  He served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War as an aircraft engine mechanic including early jet engines.  Jake worked for 23 years with McCoy Chevrolet.

Jake is survived by his children, Wayne (Debbie) Langston of Pueblo, Robert (Pam) Langston of Grand Junction, James (Tammie) Langston of La Junta, Valerie Waters & Cathy Jordan both of Arkansas; brother, Julius (Faye) Johannes of Pueblo, sisters, Helen Harmond of California and Bernice (Johnny) Markus of Pueblo; sister-in-law, Jean Johannes of La Junta; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and two brothers, Elmer and Alvin Johannes.

Graveside memorial service will be Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery with Dr. Reverend M.J. Romano of the First Presbyterian Church officiating.

Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
