Clifford Harold Smart

Clifford Harold Smart, 75 passed away on November 7, 2021 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center in La Junta. He was born on November 15, 1945 to Clovis Harold & Anna Rosaline (Phillips) Smart in Anthony, Kansas.

Cliff moved to Las Animas in 1996 and worked for the Sheriff's Department. He had done some substitute teaching in the Jr-Senior High School in Las Animas as well as starting Cliff Smart's Gun Shop downtown. Cliff was the preacher for the church of Christ in Las Animas for several years. Cliff loved and enjoyed his animals, especially his goats. He enjoyed car shows, gun shows, parades, and most of all his family. He really loved helping people. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Lora Jean of the Las Animas home; children, Tracy (Mark) Johnston of Las Animas; Coby (Robin) Smart of Kremmling, CO; Trenna (Joe) Drum of Akron, CO; Lora (Scott) Nordby of Henderson, CO; sister, Shirley (Mike) Colquette if Jacksonville, FL; nephew, Sean Colquette; grandchildren, Christian and Beverly Smart, Joshua (Angi) Marks, Jennifer (Ryan) Brossart, Johnathan Schiefelbein, Adison, Brys and Conifer Nordby; great-grandchildren, Oliver, Eli and Max Brossart and Lia Marks. He was preceded in death by his parents.

As per Cliff’s request cremation has taken place and there will be a private family service held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mountain States Children’s Home, 14780 N. 107th Street, Longmont, CO 80504 direct or through the funeral home.
