Darlene M. Bay

January 22, 1927 — February 8, 2009

Darlene M. Bay, 82, of La Junta passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2009 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center. Memorial services will be held Friday, February 13th at 10 a.m. at the First Church of God in La Junta with Pastor Stanley Reiley officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery.
She was born on January 22, 1927 to Ralph & Ida Mildred (Applebee) Quick in Lovelle, Kansas. She married Elton M. Bay on April 6, 1947 in Syracuse, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 11, 1980
Darlene was a cook at the Cheraw School for many years. She also worked for the Colorado Boys Ranch from 1980 to 1989, and she retired from there in 1989. She was also was a housewife, mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her son, Jerry (Rita) Bay of Cheraw, CO; Doug (Kayla) Bay of Cheraw, CO; Kenneth (Barbara) Bay of Syracuse, KS; daughters, Charlene (Scott) Pewitt of Pueblo, CO; Carol (Bob Muthler) Saine of Denver, CO; Barbara (Daniel) Pineda of La Junta, CO; brothers, Jack (Jean) Quick of Lamar, MO; Verald “Bud” (Eleanor) Quick of La Junta, CO; Gary (Mary Lou) Quick of Cheraw, CO; sisters-in-laws, Bea “Bob” Reynolds of Pueblo, CO; Velva Bay of Ohio; grandchildren, Jeff (Sue) Bay, Alison Bay, Kristi Saine, Tim (Samantha) Saine, Joe Pearson, Daniel Pineda, Jr., Renee Pineda, Zachary Bay, Kendra Bay, Aaron (Jessica) Bay, Shauna (Tod) Orcutt, Shanna (Kelly Watkins) Riley, Chamie Pewitt, Chasta (Mike) Rodgers,; 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, John Quick and Larry Quick; sister, Milsene Bay.
