Darlene Ormsbee

Darlene M. Ormsbee, 86, of La Junta passed away on May 7, 2012 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center. Darlene was born on January 27, 1926 in La Junta, Colorado to Frank & Daisy (Fisher) Wilson. She married Bernard L. Ormsbee on February 21, 1948 in La Junta; he preceded her in death on February 15, 1980.

Darlene and her husband Bernie owned & operated Bernie’s Drive-In Restaurant from 1950 to 1958, they also managed the Capri for several years as well. She worked as Dr. McDivitt's secretary at Otero Junior College for over 20 years. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Rodney (Deann) Ormsbee of Log Lane Village, CO; grandchildren, Keith Ormsbee of Amarillo, Texas; Kindra Ormsbee of Log Lane Village; great-grandchildren, Joshua & Abbey Ormsbee; nieces, Sharon (Fred) Sisnroy of Swink and Patty (Louie) Diaz of Fernley, NV. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and a sister; nephew, Gerald Wilson and great niece, Cheryl Mae Wilson.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the La Junta Animal Shelter, 30277 6th Avenue, La Junta, CO, 81050 direct or through funeral home.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in La Junta with Reverend Ron Skorick of the First Christian Church officiating.
