Delores Maria Black

August 6, 1938 — February 23, 2022

Delores Maria Black of La Junta was called home to be with our Lord on February 23, 2022. She was born on August 6, 1938, to Cesario & Benina (Zamora) Apodaca in La Junta. She married Robert Black of La Junta and raised three children.

Delores attended La Junta public Schools. She was employed by Western Canning and the Onion Factory. She attended church at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish and was a devoted Catholic.

Delores was always there no matter what. She was very caring, loving, nurturing, compassionate and very understanding mom.

She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Allard and Andrea (John) Salas of La Junta; son, Michael Black of La Junta; grandchildren, Melissa & Deangelo Lee of Arizona, Ryan Palacio of La Junta, Nathan Allard of Liberal, KS, Mike Black of Pueblo, CO, Andrew Salas & Richelle Chavez of Pueblo, Aaron (Tiffany) Salas of La Junta; nine great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly also survive; siblings, Lupe (Emilio) Apodaca of El Paso, TX, Charlie (Mary) Apodaca of La Junta, George (Betty) Apodaca of Colorado Springs, CO; Bobby Apodaca of Pueblo; Alvina (Paul) Hernandez of California. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Louie Apodaca, sister-in-law, Isabel Apodaca, grandparents, uncles, Esebio Zamora and Joe “Slug” Zamora.

As per Delores’s request, cremation has taken place. We would like to thank Sangre de Cristo Hospice and Jeremy Guerrero for his great care and compassion. Rita Maes for her prayers and communion. Father Victor Raj for giving Delores her Last Rights.

Graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Calvary Cemetery with Father Victor Raj of Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish officiating.
