Diana G. Kennedy

Diana Grace (Vernon) Kennedy died at the age of 63 at Swedish Medical Center in Denver Co. She was born to Archie & Ivagean (Richard) Vernon on June 4, 1947 in Manhattan, Kansas.

Diana graduated from Russell High School in 1965. After graduation she attended Fort Hays State University and received a BS in elementary education. She married James A. Kennedy Dec. 22 1966. Diana followed Jim through his tour in the military, and then supported him through veterinary school. After Jim graduated from veterinary school Diana stayed by Jim’s side as he practiced in South Dakota, Kansas, Nebraska, and Colorado. Diana's family was very important to her. For the last six years the family took annual summer vacations. She enjoyed gathering with the family and watching the grandchildren play and enjoy their surroundings. She was always active in church, serving on boards, teaching Sunday School, or singing in the choir. God, the church, children, grandchildren, family, and friends were the most important components of her life.

She leaves behind her husband of 44 years, James Kennedy, two daughters, Jamie Coleman her husband, Andy, Heather Kennedy her husband, Kris Malleck, and a son John Kennedy his fiancé, Holli Watson. She also leaves behind a brother Tom Vernon and a sister Penny Roberts. She has six grandchildren, Cameron, Olivia, Alexis, Riley, Sydney, and Addyson. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother Ivagean (Richard) Vernon, her father Archie Vernon, and younger sister Patty Vernon.

A memorial service will be Monday, April 11, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Rocky Ford.

Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
