Don Dean

Don Dean, 81, passed away Feb. 23, 2010, at the Bent County Healthcare Center in Las Animas. He was born to Robert & Velma (Miller) Dean on August 8, 1928 in Burlington, Kansas. He married Barbara Austin Miller on January 10, 1965 in La Junta.

Mr. Dean was an active member of the Faith Assembly of God Church in Rocky Ford for over 30 years. Many people will remember Donald as a greeter at Wal-Mart. He farmed for over 21 years and loved the outdoors, the birds and animals. Mr. Dean also worked at Gibsons, real estate sales, and later retired from Safeway.

Donald is survived by his wife Barbara of the La Junta family home; children, David (Akiko), Tad (Sonja), Dennis, Brian, Sharon and Connie. Numerous grandchildren and several great grandchildren survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Nadine.

Those wishing to do so may make memorial donations in his name through the funeral home. 

Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at the Faith Assembly of God Church of Rocky Ford with Pastor Rex Townsley officiating.  Visitation will be Tuesday, March 2, 2010, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home.
