Donald J. Engel

Donald J. Engel, 69, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2009 at his La Junta home. Memorial services will be Thursday, February 12th at 11 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Pastor Nathan Gumke of Parkview Baptist Church in Las Animas officiating.
He was born on September 4, 1939, to Benedict & Hilda (Wolf) Engel in Grainfield, Kansas. Donald served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for many years at the GM garage (Tri-County) and at Del Rios’ Auto Repair Service in La Junta.
Donald is survived by his daughter, Alicia (Nathan) Gumke of La Junta; sons, Ronald, D.J. & Donald; brothers, Sylvester Engel of Salina, KS and Charles (Barbara) Engel of Sharon Springs, KS; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Alvin, Joseph & Anthony Engel.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
