Donald Victor Addington

March 10, 1926 — February 15, 2012

Donald Victor Addington, 85, of Pueblo West, passed away peacefully and entered God’s Kingdom on February 15, 2012 surrounded by his family at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo.  Born March 10, 1926 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Alma and Bill Hobbs, adopted at 3 months old by his Aunt and Uncle Anna and Ben Addington.  Don is survived by his wife of 69 years Mary (Kennann); his children Vicki (Lloyd) Wadleigh and Gary (Velva) Addington; his grandchildren Rhonda (Mel) McKown, Becky Howard, Di Anna Haas, De Anna (Jack) Stalbert, Gary Ben (Kelly) Addington and Shannon (Rick) Lovato; 19 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.  He is also survived by 5 half brothers and 3 half sisters.  Don was preceeded in death by his parents, a granddaughter Alissa Lynn Addington and a great grandson Tommy Sadler.Don and Mary were married on December 16, 1942 in Clayton, New Mexico.  He served in the United States Navy during WW2 before returning to Clayton to work with his dad Ben at the family locker plant and Ranch.  Later Don was the meat supervisor for Furr Foods in Amarillo, Texas for 12 years.  In 1964, Don moved his family north of La Junta, Colorado to operate the family ranch where he was an avid cowboy and rancher until he retired in 1997 and moved to Pueblo West.  He loved to read the bible and any book about history.  Don was a member of the Amazing Grace Fellowship in Pueblo.  In lieu of flowers may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2480 West26th Avenue, Suite 120-B, Denver, CO, 80211 direct or through the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Pastor Mark Apodaca of the Assembly of God Church in Pueblo West and Reverend Andy Albright of the First Church of the Nazarene officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery with military honors by theRocky Ford Rifle Team, American Legion Post #8 Visitation will be Monday, February 20, 2012 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Peacock Memorial Chapel.
