Donald Wayne Owen

Donald Wayne Owen, 58, passed away unexpectedly on January 30, 2017 at his La Junta home. He was born on February 24, 1958 to David Lee, Sr. & Ermadean Lou (Blum) Owen in Los Angeles, California. He married Kathy Trexler on July 18, 2001.

He graduated from Cheraw High School. After high school he began his career in the United States Navy. He was a man of many trades, from farming with his brother, working in a meat processing plant in his younger days to working at Ranchers Supply, U-Haul and Evergreen Oil Company. He was a member of the Boy Scouts Troop # 232 and Koshare Indian Dancer. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and many more outdoor activities.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Owen of the La Junta home; children, Christopher (Josefina) Owen, Jonathan Owen, Jason Trexler, Samantha Owen, Andrea Jackson, Mikaella Wolfe; parents, David, Sr. (Mitzy) Owen; siblings, Dennis (Amanda) Owen, Debra Owen, Darren (Teri) Owen and David, Jr. (Peggy) Owen; grandchildren, David Daugherty, Shaun Malden, Aiden Owen, Skyler Jackson, Vance Jackson, Destiny Daugherty, Divine Trexler, Delylah Trexler, Drelynn Owen, Araliea Owen, Arabella Jackson and Kandallyn DeLeon; great-grandchild, Aspen; numerous nieces & nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his mother.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.
