Doris Mae Cady, 87 of Grand Junction and formerly of La Junta passed away peacefully at Mesa Manor Care and Rehabilitation Center on Sunday, June 19, 2011. She was born October 4, 1923 in Longmont, CO, the second of two daughters born to William and Grace (Menzies) Muth. She married Theodore D. Cady of Courtland, KS in Denver, CO on March 9, 1946; he preceded her in death on July 28, 1991.
Doris was a devout mother while Ted worked for the Mountain Bell phone company. They made numerous good friends while living in Telluride, CO and Springfield, CO. They both retired from successful careers. Doris worked with the Social Security Administration, in La Junta, CO.
She spent the last 2 ½ years living at the “Commons” independent living facility in Grand Junction.
Doris is survived by her daughter Lynea Endersen of Parker, CO; son Bruce (Carolyn) Cady of Grand Junction, CO; grandchildren Brandon Cady of Grand Junction; Darcy Cady-Nelson of Grand Junction, and Justin Endersen of Phoenix, AZ; two great-grandchildren Mason Endersen of Phoenix, AZ, and Lyla Nelson of Grand Junction, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her older sister Peg Jewell.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Dr. Reverend MJ Romano of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday prior to the service from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Graveside services will also be held Tuesday, June 28th at 3 p.m., at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 6601 South Colorado Blvd, Littleton, Colorado.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado, 3090 North 12th Street, Grand Junction, CO, 81506 direct or through funeral home.
