Dwain Barber

April 20, 1932 — April 24, 2012

Dwain Barber, 80, passed away April 24, 2012 at his La Junta home. He was born in Hoop Up, Colorado on April 20, 1932 to Charles Leon & Opal N. (Jackson) Barber. He married Patricia Carol Bowser on February 8, 1952 in Raton, NM; she preceded him in death on February 25, 2012.

Dwain and Patricia began their lives together on their ranch in Kim where he ranched for many years and also was a truck driver for many years. He was baptized at the First Christian Church.

He is survived by his children, Bobbie Sue (Bob) Spurgeon of La Junta, Patsy (David) Kerr of Cheraw, Dwaina (Wayne) Mosher of Amarillo, TX, and Casey (Brenda) Barber of Las Animas; grandchildren, Jake (Kristi) Mayo of La Junta, Shawna Madill, Jody Thompson and Ryan Mosher all of Amarillo, TX; numerous great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles & Opal Barber; wife, Patricia C. Barber; daughter, Tammy Barber.

Those wishing to do so may make memorial donation to the Arkansas Valley Hospice Association, P.O. Box 408, La Junta, CO, 81050 or to the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center, Activities Fund, 514 W. 10th Street, La Junta, direct or through the funeral home.

Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.







 

 

Funeral service will be Friday, April 27, at 10:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Reverend Calvin Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, April 26, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.
