Dwight Dean Mcintosh

March 2, 1943 — May 31, 2024

Dwight Dean McIntosh, 81 , of Fowler, Colorado passed away peacefully on Friday, May 31 , 2024 at Evergreen Gardens in La Junta, Colorado.

Dwight was born in Rocky Ford, Colorado on March 2, 1943, the son of Lloyd and Ella (King) McIntosh. He had ten brothers and sisters and there are many stories of swimming in the ditch, playing cowboys, and rural life fun. Dwight loved his family and was close to all of them during their lives. He attended schools in Rocky Ford, then as a young man worked as a ranch hand for family and friends. He had many early professions including police officer in Fowler. He finally settled into an early career of long-haul truck driving. He drove for Greens Trucking, Ward Transport, Valco, and finally Lewis Bolt & Nut Company in recent years. However, the most significant contribution he made to the community was as the owner/operator of The Stockman's Restaurant in Fowler for over 20 years.

He served the community well with good food and his constant good humor and wit. He had nicknames for many of his employees and always took care of his regulars. The coffee went on early, and the backdoor was open for area farmers and other early risers.

Dwight met the love of his life, Nancy (Phelps) McIntosh and they were married on October 2, 1982. They never had children together but had a large, blended family. It was never a dull moment in the McIntosh house. They lived life well, building the family home, doing most of the work together and with their children; countless weekends at the lake boating; traveling to Alaska on a motorcycle; several trips to the ocean on cruises and traveling in their motorhome. Nancy passed away after a short illness only eight months ago.

Dwight is survived by: daughter, Kristy Graham McIntosh of Chandler, AZ; son, Brett (Cheryl) McIntosh of South Fork, CO and son, Brandon McIntosh (Nealee Phillips) of Fowler, CO; daughter, Kori (Brent) Cozzolino of Pueblo, CO; daughter, Tara Fort of Pueblo West; son, Clint (Melanie) Denney of Centennial, CO, several grandchildren and step-grandchildren, as well as a great-grandson, and his beloved German shepherd, Beau.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Ella McIntosh, several siblings and wife, Nancy McIntosh.

A celebration of life service will be Friday, June 7, 2024, 11:30 a.m. at the Fowler United Methodist Church with Rev. Julie King-Dye officiating.

Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
