E.T. Matthews

Elmer Tempel “E.T.“ Matthews, 90, of La Junta, passed away on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009 at the Bent County Memorial Nursing Care Center after a short illness.
E.T. was born on July 31, 1919 to August & Minnie (Tempel) Matthews in Higginsville, Missouri.
He was a longtime resident of La Junta and farmed west of town for over 60 years. He also was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in La Junta.
E.T. is survived by numerous cousins including George Tempel, Gale Tempel, Charlene Hudson and Frederick Esgar all of Wiley, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents, August & Minnie Matthews and numerous cousins.

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 24, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Reverend M.J. Romano of the First Presbyterian Church officiating.  Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.
