Edith O. Anderson

Edith O. Anderson, 91, of Kim passed away following a stroke in Hospice at the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center on Sunday, October 3, 2010.  
She was born June 7, 1919 to Samuel Y. & Effie (Smith) Wright in Canadian, Texas. She married A.J. Anderson on July 15, 1942 in Raton, New Mexico, he preceded her in death on December 11, 1985.  
Edith was the oldest daughter of Samuel & Effie Wright. They moved to the Kim area in 1919 and homesteaded north of Villegreen. When she was four, the family relocated to a farm near Plum Valley where they stayed for several years before moving to Kim so that the children could attend school. Edith spent the remainder of her life in her beloved Kim. Edith was a school teacher, post office clerk, school cook and postmaster. She taught every grade and started the first kindergarten in Kim. The Kim school was very important to her and she devoted countless hours to the Kim Alumni Association. She was a member of the Kim City Council and the Kim Cemetery Committee.   
Edith was blessed with her three children, Judith Anderson of Kim; Janet (Rolly) Rose-Bouvier of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada; Terry (Mary) Anderson of Fleming, CO; two brothers & three sisters; grandchildren, Lee Rose of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada; Bevar (Penny) Rose of Crooked Creek, Alberta, Canada; Amanda Anderson of Port Orchard, WA; and Kathy Anderson of Fleming, CO; two great-grandchildren, Christen & Alina Rose of Crooked Creek, Alberta, Canada; numerous nieces & nephews and dear friends also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel & Effie Wright, husband of 43 years, A.J. Anderson, one brother & three sisters.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Kim Cemetery with Pastor Carl Ferrill of the Church of Christ in Stafford, Kansas officiating.
Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations may be made to the Kim Fire Department or Arkansas Valley Hospice, PO Box 408, La Junta, CO, 81050 direct or through Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home.
