Edna S. Degurse

Edna Syble Degurse, 91, a resident of Pioneer Healthcare Center in Rocky Ford, CO, passed on Saturday morning June 2, 2012.  She was born in Corsicana, Texas on March 8, 1921 to William Leroy Egley and Anna Beatrice Anderson Egley. Edna was the fourth oldest child of eight.  Edna was married on August 8, 1949 to Charles John "Todd" Degurse in Raton, New Mexico; he preceded her in death. 

Edna is survived by two sons, Bill Williams of Franktown, CO and Roger (Dana) Williams of Carmel, IN.  Edna has one granddaughter, Jennifer (Todd) Roberts of Granville, OH. Jennifer presented Edna with three great-grandsons (the love of Edna’s Life) Austin, Ian and Duncan Roberts. Her brother, Clinton (Bert) Egley of Greeley, CO also survives.

Edna received so much help and support from family members it would be impossible to name them all.  A special note of thanks to the following nieces and nephews for their caring assistance. Jeanette Madsen and family of Golden Dale, WA, Barbara Wookey and family of  Swink, CO, Bill (Connie) Wilson of Center, CO and Peggy (Laurence) Romero and family of Rocky Ford, CO.  A thank you to Barbara Wookey and Nathaniel Salazar for their special daily care to Edna during her time with hospice.  Edna was so grateful to these family members and her great nieces and nephews who called her Nana.  She was grandma, granny and Nana to many throughout her life.

Maxine Griego, Trinidad, CO is a long time friend of Edna’s who accompanied Edna to Granville, OH when granddaughter Jennifer was married in 2000.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Reverend Andy Albright of the First Church of the Nazarene officiating. Inurnment will be in Trinidad at a later date.

Those wishing to do so may make memorial contributions to a charity of choice.
