Edna M. Vigil, 75, of Pueblo and formerly of La Junta passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Parkview Hospital in Pueblo after a long fight with illness. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Memorial mass at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with father Alphonsus Ihuoma officiating.
She was born on February 1, 1934 in Trinidad, Colorado to Victor Medina & Perfecta Santillanes.
Edna was a longtime resident of La Junta, Fowler, Las Animas, and Pueblo. She was loved by all who knew her and was known by family and friends for her strong will and open heart; she leaves our world after many happy years spent with her family she helped create. We will never forget her love, her warmth, or the strange way she smoked her cigarettes; as well as the great strength and grace with which she enriched the world in life as well as death.
She is survived by her children, Donald (Janet) Vigil, Victor “Bum” Vigil, Edwina (David Martinez) Mondragon, Dorothy (John) Bueno; sisters, Helen Minjarez, Tomasita (Rick) Fernandez, Cecila (Dave Gallegos) Medina, Victor (Gloria) Medina, Genivieve (Jesse) Salinas, and Lainie Vigil. Her memory and legacy live on in her 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, two great, great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, loving friends and many other members of the Vigil, Aragon, and Bueno families.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Perfecta Santillanes; father & mother, Victor & Cecilia Medina; husbands, Ray Vigil & Benny Aragon; daughter, Jennifer Vigil; son, Ronald Aragon; brothers, Luther Guerra & Joe Medina; grandson, Trinity Pantoya.
