Edsel S. Wright

April 2, 1928 — July 9, 2016

Edsel Sam “Ed” Wright, 88, passed away on July 9, 2016 at the University Park Care Center in Pueblo, Colorado following a short illness. He was born on April 2, 1928 in Kim, Colorado to Sam Y. & Effie (Smith) Wright.

He was raised in Kim and attended Kim Schools, graduating in 1946. He lived in La Junta from 1950 until 1996 when he moved to Pueblo West where he resided until 2015 when he moved to University Park Care Center where he remained until his death. He was an active member of the La Junta Kiwanis Club during the 1960’s and early 1970’s; he also served as club president. He was employed by the La Junta Safeway Store for 35 years.

Ed is survived by his sisters, Mildred Good of Perryton, TX; Dorothy Panter of Lakewood, CO; Jessie (J.D.) Lowry of Pueblo West, CO; brother, Robert Wright of Salida, CO; nieces, Judith Anderson of Kim, CO; Janet Bouvier of Saskatoon, SK, Canada; Jo Ann McCoy of Perryton, TX; Billie Cramer of Lakewood, CO; Jeannie Mullins of Jackson, MS; Donna O’Moriarty of Green Mountain Village, CO; Pamela Wright of Salida, CO; Connie Clinton of Lone Tree, CO; Frances Stagner of Lamar, CO; nephews, William Jones of LaPine, OR; Terry Anderson of Fleming, CO; Jerry “Mac” Lowry of Pueblo West; Gary Good of Perryton, TX; Lee Panter of Buena Vista, CO; Rick Wright of Provo, UT; and Marty Wright of Provo, UT; many great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Edith Anderson, Juanita Friberg, Edna Rodman, Mae Dixon; brother, George Wright; niece, Linda Henwood and nephew, Jesse Lowry.

Graveside service will be held Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Ron Skorick of the First Christian Church officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, 109 West 5th Street, La Junta, CO, 81050 direct or though the funeral home.
