Edwin A. Anderson

Edwin A. Anderson, 91, of La Junta passed away September 30, 2016 in at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center. He was born August 29, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio to Adolph & Esther Anderson.

Ed’s parents immigrated to the United States from Sweden. When Ed was six the family returned to Sweden to help his aging grandparents farm their land. Ed attended a small two room school through the sixth grade before his family returned again to the United States. In 1944 Ed left school and joined the Coast Guard/Navy and served in the Pacific during World War II. Following his discharge he went back to school, graduating in 1947 from Collinwood High School in Cleveland, Ohio. He then attended Tri-State College, now Triune University where he received his degree in Mechanical Engineering. He received additional education in tooling and equipment design and worked for several corporations including Martin-Marietta Corp., Huber Corp., and Dresser Industries. During this time he received two patents for air conditioning and heating. Ed resided in several states including Washington, Ohio, Florida, and Colorado. Before retiring Ed was employed as a security guard at Aims Community College in Greeley, Colorado. In 2013 following the death of his wife, Donna Wade Anderson, Ed and their little dog, Mitzi moved to Casa Del Sol in La Junta. He was a member of Greeley First Church of the Nazarene.

He is survived by his son, Len (Nancy) Anderson of Riverside, CA; daughter, Linda (Rex) Metzler of Akron, CO; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and four great, great-grandchildren; four step-daughters, Marcia (Norm) Cox of Evans, CO; Pam (Terry) Mills of La Junta, CO; Beth (Al) Forbes of Ft. Morgan, CO and Cindy (David) Reynolds of Yakima, WA; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Donna Anderson; his brother, Alvar; and sister, Helen; and son, Ed, Jr.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley, CO.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Casa Del Sol in La Junta direct or through the funeral home.
