Elva Cavanah

Elva Cavanah, 92, of La Junta and formerly of Swink passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center. Memorial service will be Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.She was born January 25, 1917 in Swink, Colorado to Ben & Lena (Neeld) Summers. She married Roland Cavanah on April 27, 1937 in Raton, New Mexico and had been married for almost 72 years. Elva graduated from Swink High School in 1935 and was very active in several activities. She excelled in singing in operettas and musical festivals. She was employed at the grocery store in Swink, Holly Sugar Corporation and also at Montgomery Wards in La Junta. In her later years she and her husband were very active in the Swink Senior Citizens. She enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles. She is survived by her loving husband, Roland of La Junta; son, Larry Cavanah of Grand Junction, CO; daughter, Vivian Severa of Camp Connell, CA; grandsons, Jeff Severa of West Hills, CA; Todd Cavanah of Chicago, IL; and Chris Cavanah of Grand Junction, CO; several great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren also survive. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ben & Lena Summers.Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
