Eva Lucille Vanhook

Eva Lucille Vanhook , 87, passed away March 17, 2013 at the family home in Swink, Colorado. It was so important to Lucille to die at home and because of her loving family, Hospice, and special caregivers, she was able to do that.

Lucille was born Dec. 15, 1925, in La Junta , Colorado to Paul and Ethel (Adams) Tarwater. She married her high school sweetheart Vernon Vanhook on May 25, 1944 in Raton, New Mexico. A graduate of Swink High School, Lucille's family was the love of her life. She was truly the best wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother that she could be. She retired from Mountain Bell as a telephone operator and also enjoyed working at the family business; Vanhooks Market.

Lucille is survived by her husband, Vernon of Swink; her daughter, Vici (Mike) Bauserman of Swink; her son, Steve (Kristi) Vanhook of La Junta; grandchildren, Jace (Amy) Bauserman of La Junta; Jennifer (Rob) Pannebaker of Wahiawa, Hawaii; Tim Vanhook of La Junta; Ashley Vanhook and fiance Jeff Kearnan, Redwood City, California; Jordan Vanhook of La Junta; great-grandchildren; Hunter, Abbey, and Brody Bauserman of La Junta; sister-in-law Luella Rolfe of Lansing, Michigan; brother-in-law Bob Hamilton of Tampa, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Harold and Wilbur Tarwater; sisters, Louise Hamilton, Jean (Kenny) McCall, Marie (Speck) Thomas, and Wanda McCune.

Graveside services will be Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 2:30 p.m., at Fairview Cemetery with Jace Bauserman officiating.
