Eva Mary Scott

Eva Mary Scott, 88, of La Junta, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at the Bent County Memorial Nursing Home in Las Animas. At Eva’s request cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11a.m., Monday, May 11, 2009, at the First Presbyterian Church in Raton, New Mexico. She was the second child born to Winfield C. & Jean (Duncan) Smock on April 1, 1921 in Dawson, New Mexico. Eva Mary married Earl H. Scott in Sparks, Nevada in 1942, he preceded her in death in 1967 and she married Gabriel Trujillo in 1984, whom preceded her in death in 1994.Eva Mary belonged to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary 1973 in Raton, New Mexico and to the BPO Does Drove #242 in La Junta, Colorado, the Does Drove #99 in Raton, New Mexico & the Goodwill Club in Raton as well. She is survived by her daughters, Karen Prather of La Junta, CO; Penny Hunton of Amarillo, TX; son, Dwayne (Clare) Scott of Richmond Hills, GA; grandchildren, Carrie (Dean) Johnson, Randy (Evin) Hunton, Bridget & Duncan Scott, Stephanie & Jennifer Scott; great-grandson, Tyler Johnson; nieces, Cynthia (Rick) Acker and nephew, Ron Wiggins. Eva Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Winfield & Jean Smock, husbands, Earl H. Scott & Gabriel Trujillo; sisters, Edna Vernice Wiggins & Betty Jean San Roman; brother, Winfield Monroe Smock; son-in-law, Ralph Prather. Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
