Evelyn Jacob

Evelyn Jacob, 77 of La Junta, passed away Monday, October 24, 2011 peacefully making the journey home to be with her Lord and savior. She was born on October 15, 1934 on a farm in Hoxie, Kansas to Orville & Rosalie (Chamberlain) Johnson. She loved living on the farm. She has lived in La Junta since 1972.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Terry (Nia) Haynes of Denver; Rhonda (Ray) Haynes-Watts of La Junta, Sherry (Eric) Haynes-Main of Buffalo, New York; step-sons, David (Georgia) Jacob of La Junta; Sam (Babette) Fief of La Junta; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Leon Haynes in 1975, second husband, Donald “D.J.” Jacob in 2006, and her sister, Marcile Baker in 2009.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 28, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Valley CommUnity Church in Rocky Ford with Reverend Kurt England officiating. Interment will follow at the Ft. Lyon National Cemetery.
