Evelyn L. Watters

                              Place: Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Swink, Colorado
Evelyn "Blackie" Lee Watters, 88, longtime Cheraw resident, passed away in La Junta on Nov. 27, 2012.  She was born on Dec. 25, 1923 to Harry & Ona (Good) Burt in Goldsbury, Missouri.  She married Carlyle "Short" Watters; he preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 2009.
Blackie graduated from Cheraw High School in 1942, she attended Otero Junior College, University of Northern Colorado, Adams State College and attained a Masters degree. She taught for 47 years at the Cheraw School.
She is survived by her children, Karen (John) Wilson of Cheraw and Randy Watters of Las Animas; grandchildren, Monica (Michael) Martinez of Albuquerque, NM, Krystal Button of Albuquerque, Megan Fernandez of Tucson, AZ and Brett Watters of Crowley; great-grandchildren, Milah and Trystan. Two nieces and and two nephews also survive.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three sisters, Deloma Perkins, Alma Bullard and Lorene Patterson.
Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.




Funeral service will be Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church with Rev. Wayne Nazarenus officiating.
