Everett "Babe" J. Jackson

Everett Jasper "Babe" Jackson was born at Cottonwood Falls, Kansas near Strong City to William "Bill" and Lula Jackson on April 24, 1913.  He passed away on December 30, 2011 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center at the age of 98.

The family moved to Grand Valley, Oklahoma when Babe was about six months old and he attended school until the eighth grade.  They later moved the Hardesty, Oklahoma when Babe was about seven years old. In 1930 the family moved to the Dry Cimarron.  Babe homesteaded there for about ten years and later sold out and moved to Villegreen, Colorado, where he lived and ranched until his death.

On April 25, 1937 he was united in marriage to Martha Ola Keen and to this union for boys were born. Their first born, Robert William, died within a few days of birth and the three that followed are Everett Jr., Lonnie, and Floyd.

Babe and Martha were leaders of the Las Animas County 4-H program. They helped form the Villegreen 4-H club.  Babe was active in his church and his community. He will be sadly missed by all of us who loved him so deeply.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William "Bill" and Lula Jackson, three sisters and their husbands, Maude (Floyd) Jacobs, Grace (Roy) Christensen, and Beulah (Joe) Like; a brother and his wife, Bud (Lillian) Jackson, and a brother, Lester Jackson; also four baby sisters and one baby brother. Babe's grandson and his wife, Lon & Darla Jackson, including numerous nieces, nephew and cousins.

He is survived by three sons, Everett (Florence) Jackson, Lonnie (Wilma) Jackson all of Kim, CO, Floyd (Wanda) Jackson of Hixon BC, Canada; a brother, Bobby Jackson of La Junta; nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. Also five-step great-grandchildren and three step great-great-grandchildren survive.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 5, 2012 at the Kim Baptist Church at 10 a.m. with Rev. Greg Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Kim Cemetery.

Peacock Larsen funeral home and Arkansas Valley crematory is in charge of arrangements.
