Fannie Mae Grantham, 82, passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at her La Junta home after having lived for several years with Alzheimer's disease. She was born on November 1st, 1929, to E.C. & Rebecca (Freeland) Perry in Iredell County, North Carolina. She married Norman E. Grantham in 1962.
Fannie Mae graduated from high school in Iredell County, NC, in 1946. She received her Bachelor of Science in Business Education in 1952. Her career included the roles of teacher, bookkeeper, medical records clerk, secretary to a university president, and pastor's wife.
Fannie Mae's hobbies and interests included sewing, reading, tending her roses, Bible study, camping, and light hiking in the mountains. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in La Junta.
She is survived by her husband, Norman E. Grantham of the La Junta home; daughters, Rebecca Grantham of La Junta and Rachel (James) Stephens of Albuquerque, NM; son, Steve (Karla) Grantham of Johnstown, CO; grandchildren, Abigail, Ethan, and Amelia Mae Grantham all of Johnstown, CO. Fannie Mae was preceded in death by her parents, E.C. and Rebecca Perry; brothers, Albert, Kenneth, Ralph, and Ernest Perry; infant sister, Eva Louise Perry, and sister, Eula McDaniels.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Pastor Don Parker of the Ordway Baptist Church officiating.
