Gerald William Valerio

Gerald William Valerio, 40, passed away on January 16, 2018 at Parkview Hospital in Pueblo. He was born on February 23, 1977 in Rocky Ford, Colorado to Gilbert Blas and Genarita Valerio. He has a son, Michael William Valerio, 14, from Swink, Colorado.

Gerald, affectionately known as “Hopper”, will be remembered by all of us as having an infectious smile, an endless desire to help family and friends, and a lifelong fan of Oklahoma Sooner and 49ers football. He was a 1995 graduate of Swink School and attended Otero Junior College. His most recent employment was at Walmart, but he held various positions with Tyson Foods, the Colorado Department of Corrections/Emergency Response Team, and McElroy Farms.

He is survived by his mother, Genarita (Gerrie) Valerio; brother Gilbert (Rori) B. Valerio of Garden City, KS; sister Geri Lynne (Anthony) LaCombe of Castle Pines, CO; son Michael Valerio and mother of his son Misty Sandoval from Swink, CO; nephew Shea Valerio of Garden City, KS; and nieces Abby and Hailey Valerio of Garden City, KS. He is preceded in death by his beloved father, Gilbert Blas Valerio and grandparents.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m. both services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with Father Henry Wertin officiating.

In the lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Michael Valerio College Educational Donation Fund. This fund has been set up at US Bank and the account number is 103684951207.
