Gilbert Bryant

March 16, 1947 — December 25, 2009

Gilbert Bryant, 62, of La Junta passed away December 25, 2009, West of Fowler in an automobile accident. Visitation will be held Monday, January 4, 2010 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Reverend M.J. Romano of the First Presbyterian Church officiating.
Gilbert was born on March 16, 1947 to Jasper & Bertha (Cupp) Bryant in Moro, Arkansas. He married Brenda K. Romjue on July 7, 1972 in La Junta; she preceded him in death on Aug. 31, 2006. Gilbert worked for the BNSF Railroad, as a conductor for 33 years before retiring in 2007.
He was an avid outdoorsman, pool player and had a very competitive nature. Gilbert enjoyed fishing, boating, and roller skating, working on cars, motorcycle sports and traveling, preferably to warmer areas. Gilbert would help anyone with any project; had a very kind heart and was quite the handyman for any task.
Gilbert is survived by his daughters, Jade (Jose) Vigil of La Junta and Ashley (Ty) Briggs of Cheraw; grandchildren, Kayla & Cameron Vigil and Tanner & Kolten Briggs; brothers & sisters, Jasper (Pat) Bryant, Jr. of Pueblo West, William Bryant of Sioux City, Iowa, Ray (Pam) Bryant of Humble, TX, Ruth (Veral) Hines of Benton, Arkansas, Mel Bryant of La Junta, Christine (Jerry) Chapman of Swink, Eugene (Joyce) Bryant of Guymon, OK, Billy (Sherri) Bryant of Swink, Phyllis (Bob) Bates of St. George, UT, and Norma Romjue (mother-in-law) of La Junta.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Brenda, brothers, J.C. & Albert and his baby sister Sue.
Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
