Herbert G. Mosher

Herbert Mosher, 75, passed away on September 27, 2012 at his La Junta home after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on June 14, 1937 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado to Charles & Nellie (Lockhart) Mosher. 
Herb graduated from High School in Fruita, Colorado. He married Jean Collins in Fruita and they made their home throughout the Arkansas Valley including, La Junta, Lamar, Rocky Ford, and the San Luis Valley town of Alamosa. Herb was the manager of the Big R stores in La Junta and Lamar for many years before co-owning his own store in Alamosa called H & R Supply.
Herb enjoyed employing hos knot tying skilling by packing into the mountains for hunting and fishing trips. He was always ready with a joke and had a sense of humor. Herb rarely met a stranger and loved to listen to Western Music that was popular in his youthful days. 
Herb is survived by his children, Rocky (Sally) Mosher, Wayne (Dwaina) Mosher, Randy Mosher, and Chris (Denise) Mosher; son-in-law, Marvin Schlegel; grandchildren, Kayla, Shawna, Jody, Ryan, Morgan, Garrett, Brandon, and Joshua; wife, Pat of the La Junta home; step-children, Ronda (Kevin) Holt, Rick Honey, Renee (CL) Morgan; step-grandchildren, Bradley, Kaylee (Trell) Etbauer, Rachelle, Brett, Lexi (Jason) Ayers, Braxton, and Brayden; brothers, Floyd (Nita) Mosher of Fruita, CO; Walt (Maureen) Mosher of Grand Junction, CO; sister-in-law, Irene Mosher of Loma; numerous nieces and nephews and six great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Jean, daughter, Tammy, two sisters and two brothers.
Celebration of Herb’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Valley Community Church in Rocky Ford with Kurt England officiating.
