Herbert Q. Trumble

Herbert Quincy Trumble, 90, of La Junta, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center. Herbert was able to share his 90th birthday with all of his children in attendance with a luncheon held at the Boss Hogg’s for him. A cake was also enjoyed at the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center where he was a resident since August of 2008.
Visitation will be today, March 13th from 1 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral service will be Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Ron Trumble officiating. Internment will be at the Calvary Cemetery.
He was born on March 8, 1919, in Broughton, Kansas to Warren Jefferson & Ella Deenis (McChesney) Trumble. He attended schools in Greenleaf, Kansas and joined the United States Army in 1941, serving in the Panama Canal Zone as a radio operator, and was honorably discharged in 1945. He worked a short time in California before returning home to Greenleaf where he worked as a substitute mail carrier. It was there where he met and later married Florabelle Dickson on April 10, 1947 in Greenleaf; who preceded him in death on January 12, 1983.
Herbert worked for the AT&SF Railroad as a telegrapher from 1949 until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of the La Junta Elks Lodge #701 for 35 years. He greatly enjoyed visits with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Jeannie (Don) Rizzuto; Linda (Dan) Davis; Tom (Vickie) Trumble all of La Junta; Sharon Kindred of Kansas City, KS; Ron (Amy) Trumble of Bartlesville, OK; Luann (Mike) Baird of Grand Lake, CO; Michelle Trumble of Thornton, CO; grandchildren, Tony Rizzuto of Denver; Angie (Dustin) Rizzuto of Windsor, CO; Kimberly (Trevor) Gunther of Kansas City, MO; Kari (Brian) Rawley of Kansas City, MO; Klye (Heather) Haile of Cudahy, WI; Kate Zishka of Bonner Springs, KS; Nicole (Seth) Harrell of Springfield, MO; Luke Trumble of Asheville, NC; Laurel Trumble and Holly Trumble both of Bartlesville, OK; Monique (Dale) Tekler and Adam (Jeanie) Baird both of Kremmling, CO; Ian Baird of Crested Butte, CO; Jeremy (Jessica) Trumble of Albuquerque, NM; Robby Trumble of Grand Haven, MI; Tyler Trumble of La Junta; Christopher Jaramillo of Thornton, CO; step-grandchildren, Becky (Ron) Sisneros of Rocky Ford, CO; Ashlee Velez of Ft. Collins, CO; great-grandchildren, Olivia Rizzuto Schramm, Amelia Rizzuto Schramm, Taylor Gunther, Kellen Gunther, Hailey Ladner, Parker Rawley, Ethan Rawley, Adam Haile, Sydney Haile, Abigail Thompson, Alex Schultz, Marissa Schultz, Jonathan Tekler, Oden Baird, Ashlyn Baird; one step great-grandchild, Ayden Sisneros.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren & Ella Trumble; wife, Flora Trumble on January 12, 1983; sisters, Jeanne Goforth and Donna Trumble.
Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
