Herman G. Yergert

Herman G. Yergert, 89, of Pueblo, former longtime La Junta resident, passed away Jan. 27, 2012, in Pueblo.  He was born on Apr. 13, 1922, in Sugar City, Colorado to George & Susan (Moore) Yergert.  He married Lucille W. DuBois on April 21, 1946 in Rocky Ford.

Herman served in the United States Army during World War II; serving in the Aleutians and the European Theater.  Herman retired in 1983 as a conductor from the Santa Fe Railroad after 32 years and farmed all his life.  Herman was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of La Junta, served on the Bent's Fort School Board for many years and was a longtime member of the Antique Car Club.

Herman is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lucille of the Pueblo home; children, Don (Kathy) Yergert of Greeley, CO, Sharon (John) Proctor of Pueblo, and Jacque (Dave) Beauvais of Pueblo; sisters, Bertha Sorenson of Alamosa, CO and Betty Fleming of Canon City, CO; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Paul Yergert, sisters, Martha Sturges and Elsie Fleming.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Joni Fair Hospice House, 1107 Pueblo Blvd Way, Pueblo, CO, 81005 or to the Arkansas Valley Hospice Assoc., P.O. Box 408, La Junta, CO, 81050 direct or through the funeral home.

Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of La Junta with Reverend Dr. M.J. Romano officiating.  Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
