J Y Johnson

J Y Johnson, 89 of Kim, passed away on June 26, 2009 at the home of his son & daughter in law in La Junta. Memorial service will be Monday June 29 2008 at 11:00 am at the Kim Cemetery with Pastor Derek Hutchison officiating.
JY was born June 13, 1920 in Branson Colorado. He married Thelba Dee Alexander on May 28, 1949 in Raton, New Mexico. JY was a graduate of Kim High and was a longtime member of the Kim Baptist church.
He is survived by his sister Frances McVey of Springfield, CO, sister-in-law Edna Wanzer of Grand Junction, CO, daughter Ellen (Dennis) Chastine of La Junta; grandchildren Brian Shannon of El Paso, TX, Justin (Catie) Shannon of Windsor, CO, Kari (Slayton)Johnson of Stinnett, TX, Reygan(Kirby) Long of La Junta, Danica (Steve) Quigley of Denver, Desiree (Craig) Sisson of Denver; son, Ken (Patty) Johnson of La Junta; granddaughters, Elisabeth Johnson of La Junta and Natalie Johnson of Smithville, TN; son Larry (Donna)Johnson of Fowler; grandchildren Jeremiah (Heather)Johnson of Pueblo, J.D. (Jenn) Johnson of Pueblo, Alisha (Crispin) Miell of Fowler, Ryan (Lacey)Ehrlich of Fowler, at last count 21 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews & cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert & Mary Ella Johnson, son, James Steven Johnson, brother Lee Johnson, and wife Thelba Dee Johnson.
Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
