Jackson Joe Woods was born on May 18, 1946 to Jack and Catherine Woods in Rocky Ford. He was soon joined by four sisters: Pat, Connie, Cathy, and Paula. He graduated from Fowler High School and continued his education at CSU where he received a bachelor’s degree in Business and was commissioned a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force upon graduation.
In 1970, Jack married Martha and they settled in Fowler. After working at Jack’s Market in Fowler for six years, Jack and Martha felt called to go to Denver Baptist Bible College. Jack graduated with Master of Divinity degree in 1979.
For 7 years, Jack served as pastor on the Western slope in Silt, Colorado. He then took the church in Springfield, Colorado. This was followed by two years at a small mission church in Idaho. In 1993, the family returned to Fowler to join Jack’s mom and dad in the family grocery store.
Jack is survived by his mom whom we call Gram; Martha, his wife of 49 years; daughter Tonya, husband Peter, and their children Jost and Kade; son David, and wife Susan, and their children Zander, Lorelai, Grady, and Kyndal; and daughter Kendra, husband Ryan and their children Kaysa, Dylan, Kassidy, and Natalie.
Graveside service will be held on Monday, June 3rd at 10:00 a.m. at the Fowler Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at the Valley Community Church in Rocky Ford at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Kurt England officiating.
