Janet L. Garner, longtime La Junta resident passed away April 30, 2010 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center, she was 70. She was born to Frances & Joseph Kancilia in Aguilar, Colorado on August 9, 1939.
Janet married James M. Garner on July 20, 1963 in Pueblo; he preceded her in death on March 13, 1993. To this union two children were born James H. “Jim” and Jeanette. Janet and James owned and operated Quickee Foods for many years. Janet loved her children and her grandson; she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeanette Garner of Gilbert, Arizona; son, Jim (Michelle) Garner of La Junta; grandson, Luke; sisters, Dorothy (Jack) West of Broomfield, CO and Pauline Conder of Walsenburg, CO; brother and sister-in-law, Stuart (Carol) Garner of Pueblo West, CO; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph & Frances Kancilia, husband, James M. Garner and brother-in-law, Jim Conder.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Sunday, May 2, 2010, at 6:00 p.m. and the Funeral Mass will be Monday, May 3, 2010, at 2:00 p.m., both services at our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish. Interment will follow the Mass at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, May 2, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.
Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home and Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of local arrangements.
