Joe E. Lucero

Joe E. Lucero, 84, of La Junta, passed away Friday, August 21, 2009, at the Fowler Health Care Center. Visitation will be Thursday, August 27th from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel. Recitation of the Rosary will be Friday, August 28th at 9:30 a.m. and funeral mass will follow at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with Father Alphonsus Ihuoma officiating. Internment will be at the Ft. Lyon National Cemetery following services with military honors.
Joe was born to Edino & Bruna M. (King) Lucero on October 28, 1924 in Maxwell, New Mexico. He married Micaela G. Gonzales on November 18, 1987 in La Junta, Colorado.
He served in the Army during WWII and received a Purple Heart.
He is survived by his wife, Micaela “Mickey” G. Lucero of the La Junta home; daughter, Pearl (Paul) Narvaez of Lubbock, TX; grandson, Adam Narvaez; brother, Gilbert (Toni) Lucero of La Junta; helped raise, Brandon, Diana, & Angela all of Pueblo.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Edino & Bruna M. Lucero, brother & sister.
